Are you Feeling Stuck? Counselling can help
Going through the motions
Modern life is full of obstacles and challenges. It is no surprise that we spend so much time and energy just coping with our day to day existence. We take jobs, pursue relationships, provide for our daily needs, pursue leisure time, and even set goals. But what happens when all of this activity and effort starts to make less sense? What happens when it starts to feel like you are just 'going through the motions'?
Feelings matter, and it is important to try and understand what your feelings are saying to you. If you feel 'stuck', then there may be something going on within you that raises questions about how you perceive your situation. This can occur for a variety of reasons, but right now you are finding if difficult to continue on the path that you are on.
Why do I feel stuck?
Causes behind these feelings are not always easy to detect, and may be related to your view of yourself, your past experiences, or your relationships. These causes can take some effort to identify, but can also offer some helpful explanations. More practical causes should also be considered, such as fatigue or being worn down by a routine or lifestyle that lacks joy.
Whatever the possible cause; feeling that you are unable to move forward, or that you are unsure of your direction in life can be troubling and destabilizing. It is as if the path you have been on has stopped leading you where you had hoped it would, and your motivation and energy for the journey has started to wane.
Counselling can help
Many people enter Counselling or Psychotherapy for the reasons above, and they are looking for a way out of this feeling of being stuck, or lacking motivation, and lacking energy to do something about it.
What can counselling do
A Counsellor or Psychotherapist is a professional who is trained to understand psychological and emotional reactions, to offer a confidential place to explore your life and experiences and to find solutions to feeling stuck. The Counsellor can provide an objective view of your situation and your perceptions and where appropriate, assist you in looking at deeper meanings in order to enable you to develop your own solutions and to move forward.
